Term 2

Term two has started and we are all up to the grouting part of our mosaics. You have all made a great job and should be very proud of yourself. We have our pathways up and running on the wall for our writing and the words we know. We will be planting our bulbs on Friday out in the garden in front of Room 2 so the parents will be able to enjoy them in the spring when they come to pick you up.

Week 2 of the holidays

Hi everyone
I am back home in Hokitika with my daughter. I have done lots of kilometres so thank goodness for my new car. Today I am working on our homework sheet for next term and writing my plans for the term.
In Week 3 we have student led conferences and in Week 4 it is cross country. A little bit of training each day will make the cross country easier so get out there and ride your bike or run around the back lawn.
Hi Caitlin I'm looking forward to finishing our mosaics as well. We will get back onto them on the first Monday.
Enjoy your last week.

Vist to the Jade Factory

Today we went to the Greenstone Factory. We got to touch the greenstone and put water on it. It felt smooth and nice. Then we went to see how the greenstone is made.

They had diamonds on the saw to cut the greenstone. You find greenstone in the lake and the beach and in the river. Special people carve it. We got to look around the shop at all the different things they made. At the end they gave us little parcels with our very own special pieces of greenstone.

On Tuesday St Mary's school went to the high school for athletics.First we sat on the concrete and Mrs Payne explained what we were going to do.Our first event was the long jump. We ran and when we almost got to the sand we jumped. Some of us liked the long jump because you got to run. Some of us didn't like jumping.Next we went to softball and quoits throw. After that we had luch and then we did running races 200m and 60m. Maggie won and Leila came second in the girls. Kirk won the five year olds and Brayden won the six year olds. Jakeb and Robert were really proud of themselves because they got past Makaira and Jack. We had a go at the high jump too.At the end of the day we walked back to school and played on the playground. We were hot and exhausted. Some of us went home with our Mums and Dads and Grandmas.
